Senior Manufacturing Systems Engineer at Grafton Sciences About Grafton Sciences
We’re building AI systems with general physical ability — the capacity to experiment, engineer, or manufacture anything. We believe achieving this is a key step towards building superintelligence. With deep technical roots and real‑world progress at scale (e.g., a $42M NIH project), we’re pushing the frontier of physical AI. Joining us means inventing from first principles, owning real systems end‑to‑end, and helping build a capability the world has never had before.
AboutThe Role
We’re seeking a Senior Manufacturing Systems Engineer to design the workflows, layouts, buffers, takt times, and automation flows that enable high‑throughput autonomous manufacturing. You’ll architect end‑to‑end systems — from station design to process sequencing to material routing — ensuring reliable, scalable, deterministic operation across robotic and automated cells. This role requires a systems thinker who can translate physical processes into predictable, efficient, and orchestrated manufacturing pipelines.
Responsibilities- Design factory workflows, takt times, station layouts, buffers, and material flow models for autonomous manufacturing.
- Model throughput, constraints, and system‑level interactions to ensure deterministic, high‑performance operation.
- Collaborate with robotics, automation, controls, and scheduling systems to build synchronized, reliable processes.
- Validate system performance through simulation, analysis, and on‑floor iteration of automated cells.
- Experience designing manufacturing workflows, automation cells, or factory‑scale systems with rigorous throughput and reliability requirements.
- Ability to model system behavior — bottlenecks, buffers, cycle times, and process interactions — and drive toward optimized designs.
- Strong cross‑functional instincts, working comfortably with robotics, automation, controls, and systems engineering.
- Systems‑oriented mindset and comfort owning complex physical workflows from concept to operational readiness.
Above all, we look for candidates who can demonstrate world‑class excellence.
CompensationWe offer competitive salary, meaningful equity, and benefits.
