What You Will Contribute To Altos

The Bay Area Institute of Science at Altos Labs is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Scientist in Neurodegeneration to join our fast‑paced, collaborative team dedicated to reversing brain aging. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research aimed at identifying optimal therapeutic targets for neurodegenerative diseases. Responsibilities
  • Lead and design cutting‑edge studies focused on target optimization for brain rejuvenation, with a strong emphasis on neurodegeneration.
  • Execute a wide range of wet‑lab techniques to generate and optimize comprehensive omics datasets (e.g., bulk sequencing, proteomics) from both human and rodent ex‑vivo tissues and in‑vitro culture systems.
  • Serve as a critical bridge for communication and collaboration among experimental scientists, algorithm developers, and software deployment teams, ensuring seamless integration of research efforts.
  • Contribute significantly to the strategic direction of research projects, leveraging your expertise to drive innovation and solve complex scientific challenges.
  • Collaborate with other scientists, fostering a dynamic and supportive research environment.
Who You Are

You are a passionate and accomplished scientist eager to make a significant impact in the field of neurodegenerative diseases. You thrive in a highly collaborative setting and possess a strong desire to translate scientific discoveries into tangible therapeutic solutions. The level of the position will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in Neuroscience or a closely related field.
  • 3+ years of post‑doctoral or industry experience with a strong focus on neurodegeneration research.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with one or more programming languages commonly used for large‑scale data management and machine learning, such as Python, C++, Scala, or Julia.
  • Extensive hands‑on experience processing and analyzing both rodent and human brain samples.
  • Prior experience working with and interpreting various omics datasets.
  • Exceptional ability to present complex technical datasets clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, including both scientific and non‑scientific stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of high‑impact publications in reputable journals and presentations at scientific conferences in the field of neurodegeneration.
  • Eagerness to design, implement, and effectively communicate technical and cultural standards across various scientific and technical functions within a research organization.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced experience with bioinformatics data processing and analysis.
  • Direct experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting, specifically with the clinical translation of research findings.
Salary Range

Scientist II, Biological Sciences: $156,000 - $210,000
Senior Scientist I, Biological Sciences: $175,000 - $247,200
Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
