The

Opportunity

The VP of Structural and Molecular Sciences will report to the SVP of Discovery Biology and lead a group encompassing protein science, biophysics, structural biology, assay development, and discovery technology. This senior-level role is expected to drive innovation, data integration, and translation, bridging fundamental target biology with tri‑complex inhibitor (TCI) discovery, and contribute to advancing transformative science by demonstrating:

  • Vision, strategy, leadership:
Collaborate with Research leadership to develop a long‑term strategy for portfolio expansion through discovery of inhibitors of frontier oncology targets. Partner with digital drug discovery and AI/ML teams to harness data analytics at all stages of discovery, and particularly data‑informed approaches to accelerate DMTA cycles. Provide vision and leadership to a dynamic group of scientists to implement strategy. Drive cross‑functional alignment to support a dynamic portfolio of discovery and development stage projects.

  • Innovation:
Actively participate in cutting‑edge research, particularly at the earliest stages of drug discovery, where failure rate is high and creativity and innovation are key. Mentor scientists to ask and answer the right questions in this environment. Bring expertise in assay development, data acquisition, screening, and advanced analytical methods, as well as a rigorous, output‑focused approach to science. Champion applying advanced analytic methods to predictive molecular design and automation and computational methods to increase throughput and reproducibility.

Collaborate with the external scientific community to advance state of the art structural and chemical biology methods to inform innovation internally.

  • Management excellence:
Manage a high‑performing group with multiple functions and talented Ph.D. and non‑Ph.D. scientists at many career levels. Sustain productivity through strategic hiring, mentoring, and support for individual career growth. Be accountable for an annual budget.

  • Cross‑functional collaboration:
Position the Structural and Molecular Sciences function as a bridge across Research, enabling bench‑to‑bedside insights. Partner with Medicinal Chemistry, Digital Drug Discovery, Systems Biology, and Translational Research to identify molecular determinants of response, resistance, and target vulnerability and to inform discovery priorities. Contribute to organizational excellence and rigor by being curious and asking questions of diverse subject matter experts. Serve as a visible leader representing Revolution Medicines’ scientific excellence internally and externally.
