This person will contribute to preclinical and future clinical programs by developing and validating tissue‑based biomarker assays. Strong candidates will be highly collaborative, strategically organized, and passionate about drug discovery and precision medicine. Expertise in immunology, oncology, and spatial biology are important for this role, and candidates should have experience working with human clinical samples.
- Build our understanding of gene and protein expression profiles for novel oncology biomarkers (Immun Edge targets and relevant cell types) across different body tissues and tumor types, to help guide future clinical development
- Design, validate, and implement single and multiplex immunohistochemistry and ISH assays, including co‑proximity assays (e.g. Duo Link PEA)
- Manage histopathology lab operations, including organization of reagents and specimens, equipment maintenance, coordinating with vendors, etc.
- Identify and assess emerging pathology techniques, including spatial transcriptomics and novel multiplex technologies, and either build these capabilities in‑house or oversee work performed at CROs
- Develop and run digital image analysis workflows for whole slide scans, using software such as HALO or Visiopharm
- Contribute to scientific strategy by proposing new hypotheses and supporting the advancement of Immun Edge’s research and development pipeline
- Analyze, interpret, and communicate complex research findings to cross‑functional stakeholders with varied scientific backgrounds
- Maintain accurate, well‑organized records while supporting a safe and compliant lab environment
- Ph.D. in Immunology, Pathology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, or a related field, or M.S. with additional years of experience
- 4+ years of industry experience in oncology drug development, with at least 5 years of total experience working in histology and IHC labs with FFPE samples
- Strong technical expertise in histopathology, including multiplex technologies, spatial transcriptomics, and digital pathology image analysis
- Proficiency with other standard lab techniques including tissue culture, ELISA, qPCR, western blot, and flow cytometry
- Ability to independently oversee scientific activities, solve complex problems, and rigorously analyze and interpret scientific data
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a supportive, but dynamic, start‑up environment
- Excellent communication, technical writing, record‑keeping, and organizational skills
- Experience with bioanalytical (PK) assay development, primary immune cell culture, and experience with the Leica Bond Rx platform would be a plus
Expected Salary Range: $154,000 - $170,000
