Halfmore – Founding Software Engineer (Frontend‑Focused)

Location: Redwood City, CA (Hybrid)

Compensation: $160K to $200K plus up to 0.6% equity

Halfmore is building the financial operating system for families. We help parents turn everyday household tasks into lifetime wealth opportunities for their children, starting with automated payroll, compliance, and custodial investing. Our platform empowers families to legally employ their children, manage payroll, and contribute to custodial Roth IRAs – a wealth strategy that has traditionally been accessible only to the wealthy through high‑cost advisors and CPAs.

Halfmore is seeking a Founding Software Engineer (Frontend‑Focused) to join our early team and build the core user experience across web and mobile platforms. Working with React Native, Next.js, and Node.js, you will collaborate closely with the founders to design, build, and refine front‑end architecture that families across the country will use daily. As an early member, you will take full ownership of product features, contribute to technical direction, and influence the company’s long‑term engineering culture.

You will own end‑to‑end product areas, from concept to deployment, ensuring a simple and effortless experience for families.

Key responsibilities include:

• Design, implement, and maintain responsive UI components for web and mobile.
• Collaborate with designers, product managers, and backend engineers to translate complex flows into intuitive experiences.
• Architect scalable front‑end solutions that support high traffic and real‑time data.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate development and improve product quality.
• Participate in code reviews, write unit and integration tests, and maintain code quality standards.

• At least 3 years of professional experience in front‑end development.
• Proficiency in React Native, Next.js, or Node.js.
• Strong design and product intuition, with the ability to simplify complex flows.
• Experience with A/B testing, product optimization, and data‑driven decisions.
• Comfort with AI and automation tools to accelerate development.
• Strong sense of ownership, collaborative mindset, and willingness to work in person several days a week at our Redwood City office.

As a founding engineer, you will define Halfmore’s technical direction, product architecture, and engineering culture from day one. Your work will impact real families almost immediately, and you will own product areas end‑to‑end, shaping the customer experience. You’ll collaborate with founders who bring experience from Stanford, McKinsey, You Tube, and PwC, and you’ll work in an environment that values autonomy, trust, and rapid iteration.

Our team, based in Palo Alto with strong ties to the Silicon Valley ecosystem, gathers regularly for design reviews, strategy discussions, and product sessions.
