Coaching Responsibilities- Provide direction for the college women's softball program, including selection and direct oversight of assistant coaches and support staff.
- Lead and develop the student‑athlete recruiting process for the football program in compliance with 3C2A regulations.
- Assist in building strong relations between the community and the athletic department, particularly with high schools of the district.
- Ensure program compliance with 3C2A regulations, establish and monitor procedures to ensure staff and student‑athletes comply, and communicate disciplinary consequences.
- Create a positive atmosphere for the student‑athletes; support academic progress, retention, and matriculation through mentoring activities and refer student‑athletes to support services.
- Provide instruction, mentoring, and coaching to student athletes in the skills, techniques, and competitive strategies necessary for individual and team achievement of athletic standards of performance.
- Evaluate individual and team performance and refine strategies throughout the season.
- Assist in planning and scheduling competitions, tournaments, and events in collaboration with coaches and in concert with academic schedules, district policy, and California Community College Athletic Association 3C2A/conference regulations.
- Provide referrals to prospective student‑athletes to academic and student services.
- Work with athletic counselors to assist student athletes in completing academic requirements to transfer to four‑year institutions or otherwise meet academic goals.
- Develop and implement appropriate fundraising activities in accordance with college and district policies.
- Teach courses as assigned within the Physical Education Program, depending on qualifications and experience.
- Support, mentor, and advise students and schedule sufficient weekly office hours on campus.
- Contribute to curriculum and program development and/or revision, including review of student learning outcomes.
- Assist in advancing the institutional mission and goals.
- Serve on and attend department, college, and district committees as needed.
- Participate in program review, student learning outcome development, and assessment to improve student learning.
- Otherwise fulfill all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
- Master's in physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise, or adaptive physical education and two years of directly related experience.
- or Bachelor's in any of the above and Master's in life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration, or physical therapy, with two years of directly related experience.
- or A valid California Community College Credential.
- or Equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).
- Experience incorporating equity, diversity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility.
- Recent experience working with African American, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students, and understanding of historical exclusion patterns.
- Willingness to examine and remediate instructional and relational practices to better engage racially minoritized students.
- Experience working with students of diverse cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, ethnic backgrounds, and students with disabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work with computers and technologies utilized in high‑quality instruction and support.
