The Administrative Services Department, Human Resources Division is recruiting for one (1) Human Resources Technician position.
This position is in the Administrative Services Department, Human Resources Division and will work under the immediate supervision of the Senior Human Resources Analyst. This position is in the Unrepresented Employees Group and subject to the terms and conditions of employment as specified in the Unrepresented Employees Salary & Benefits Resolution and the City's Personnel Policies & Procedures Manual. E.O.E. DEFINITIONUnder direction, performs a variety of technical human resources work in the areas of payroll, recruitment, selection, classification, compensation, benefits, retirement, and other human resources functions; follows established reporting and record keeping procedures; and performs related work as required.
SUPERVISIONExercises no supervision.
EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES(may include, but are not limited to, the following)
Recruitments & Onboarding- Create, post, and track recruitment advertisements for approved recruitments; place advertisements in print media, electronic media, and other sources; research costs and receive quotes on ad placement; proof and submit job flyers.
- Prepare communications and schedule facilities for recruitment activities by the required deadlines; receive, input, and process employment applications; review and verify application materials submitted; enter applicant information into the applicant tracking database; draft, process, and send information to applicants, oral interview panel raters, and others, as necessary; notify candidates regarding selection outcomes.
- Compile, complete, and process materials and forms provided to employees during new hire orientation, including benefit enrollment forms, and other related documents. Assist with the onboarding of new employees and non-employee personnel such as volunteers, volunteer firefighters, and interns.
- Compile, complete and process payroll for all City employees, in accordance with established personnel policies and procedures and collective bargaining agreements. Ensure accuracy of data entered in the payroll, human resources and timekeeping databases.
- Provide general assistance and answer questions in person and on the telephone regarding City benefits, payroll, recruitment, selection, and related human resource services to City employees and the public; assist employees in completing general human resources forms and documents; process confidential and sensitive personnel data, and other related information.
- Assist with coordinating and completing benefits administration activities as assigned, including open enrollment; processing monthly remittances; and providing assistance with completing benefits enrollment and change forms.
- Process separation paperwork for payroll and benefits; coordinate final paycheck data, including timesheet data, applicable deductions, accrual payouts and related payroll information.
- Work with limited supervision to lead, coordinate or support staff development and training activities as assigned. This may include scheduling of subject matter experts, coordinating with outside agencies and other departments regarding facilities/equipment and payment, and ensuring proper record keeping of training activities.
- Provide general clerical assistance and administrative support to Human Resources staff. Assist with various risk management or contract administration support duties, as assigned. May assist with disciplinary actions and employee relations issues.
