Overview
The Saskatchewan Health Authority – North Battleford is looking for Psychiatrists with a specific interest in forensic work as well as care and treatment of long‑term rehabilitation patients. The Saskatchewan Hospital is a 284‑bed psychiatric facility that includes a 96‑bed secure unit for offenders living with mental health issues. This is an innovative approach to delivering mental health care and supports to two separate groups of people with significant psychiatric rehabilitation needs.
There is no out‑patient component to this position.
On‑call duties are shared with the psychiatrists of the Battlefords Mental Health Centre in a 1‑in‑6 rotation.
Relocation Package- Recruitment and relocation incentive of $25,000.00 available for a 3‑year return for service to the community of North Battleford.
- The SMA Retention Fund, which provides a financial reward to physicians who practice in the province for extended periods ranging from $3,500 to $7,000.
- Certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or a valid letter of eligibility (not required if eligible for a ministerial license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan).
- Eligible for licensure from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS).
- Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is required.
- Preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Legal entitlement to work in Canada.
- Minimum of three acceptable references.
- Acceptable criminal record check with vulnerable sector search.
- Experience providing generalist and/or forensic psychiatry services within a catchment model.
- Demonstrable evidence of multidisciplinary approach to care/management.
- Understanding of Saskatchewan provincial laws and regulations concerning commitment and release of the mentally ill under the Mental Health Services Act would be an asset.
