Position: Sessional lecturer BUS 307 401 (Business Law) - Spring 2026

Position Summary

Position Summary:

The Hill Levene School of Business at the University of Regina invites applications for one Sessional Lecturer to teach the following course during the Spring 2026 semester:
This course will be a hyflex class where a portion of students will be participating in person and other students will be participating remotely through zoom.
BUS 307 – Business Law
This course provides an introduction to Canadian legal institutions and processes. Topics will include: the judicial system, law making, contracts, torts and civil liability, constitutional and administrative law, and criminal law.

The Spring 2026 semester class period is from May 4 to June 17, 2026 with the final exam period running from June 19 to 23, 2026. Maximum enrolment for this course is 68 and a Teacher Assistant may be provided if requested and available.

Sessional Lecturers that are teaching in person classes are expected to teach 13 synchronous classes throughout the semester in person on campus.
Expectations for Sessional Lecturers include, but aren’t limited to, the following:
  • Preparing the course outline, designing relevant assignments, evaluating and grading student work, and submitting student grades on time;
  • Teaching course content that follows the course description, established learning objectives, and university academic guidelines;
  • Delivering 13 2.75-hour lectures throughout the semester (unless otherwise discussed with the Associate Dean);
  • Encouraging and maintaining a safe and collaborative classroom environment;
  • Providing regular support to students on course work as required before and after each class, during office hours, and as required by students;
  • Meeting all submission deadlines as outlined by the Hill Levene School of Business;
  • Consulting with the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs) on academic or student-related matters as needed; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Position Requirements The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • Graduate and/or PhD/doctorate degree in a discipline relevant to the course subject area (note that a bachelor’s degree coupled with relevant professional business experience may also be considered);
  • Practicing lawyer
  • Superior communication skills (both written and verbal);
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with respect to academic reporting; and
  • Recent teaching experience in a post-secondary environment considered an asset.
