This course is for students with little or no Spanish experience. The course focuses on the acquisition of basic vocabulary in a variety of areas and an understanding of basic grammar, aiming to develop skills in reading, writing, oral comprehension and oral expression. Instructors are expected to lecture on these topics and to carry out effective activities and testing strategies to lead to mastery of the material.
Instructors will carry out written and oral exams during the semester, as well as written and oral finals exams. Content covered and standards of assessment are established by the Department, and are common to other sections of the class; instructors are expected to follow these parameters.
At least a B.A. in related discipline, with native or near-native fluency in the target language as well as in English. Preference will be given to candidates who have teaching experience at the university level. Only successful candidates will be contacted.
