The Learning Technology Trainer serves as an educational technology specialist within Saskatchewan Polytechnic, supporting faculty and staff in the adoption, integration, and effective use of established and emerging learning technologies. This dynamic position requires a passionate individual who excels in sharing specialized knowledge through strong relationship building, fostering long‑term partnerships with clients, and assisting faculty and programs with the meaningful integration of educational technologies.

The ideal candidate possesses robust technical proficiency across a wide range of tools and innovations, including learning management systems, video conferencing solutions, media streaming services, Microsoft 365 and Office tools, artificial intelligence, mixed reality, gaming, and 3D technologies.
The Trainer’s specialist expertise is grounded in diverse experience with teaching and/or technology. As an educational technology specialist, they work effectively with clients in various modes—face‑to‑face, online, and blended—adapting to synchronous, asynchronous, and flexible learning environments. A forward‑thinking professional, the Trainer proactively researches and evaluates new technologies, assessing their potential to enrich educational experiences. They collaborate closely with other departments and academic programs to pilot and implement innovative tools and practices.
Additionally, the Trainer is responsible for creating and curating comprehensive, accessible training materials that support faculty development and build institutional capacity. Through expert consultation and problem‑solving, they assist faculty in overcoming challenges, advancing the institution’s Strategic Plan and Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) Plan, and supporting Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.

Job Duties /Qualifications,

Skills and Abilities

(QSA)   Facilitate training and provide expert assistance to faculty and staff in adopting instructional technologies, with a strong focus on leveraging the appropriate technologies (both emerging and established) to enhance the teaching and learning experience.
Champion the advancement of technology‑enhanced learning, aligning with Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Strategic Plan and the Division of Learning and Teaching’s Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) Plan.
Offer specialist advice and support to faculty to foster innovative, engaging, and effective learning environments through the use of instructional and emerging technologies.
Consult with programs on the selection, implementation, and integration of appropriate technologies to enrich teaching and learning, including problem‑solving, research, resource recommendation, and strategic collaboration for technology integration.
