Instructional Designer – Saskatchewan Polytechnic Moose Jaw Campus
We are seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to join our collaborative development team. The role involves designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating courses using emerging learning technologies such as AI, AR/VR, game-based learning, and open educational resources.
Responsibilities
Work with subject matter experts to blueprint and design instructional content aligned with learning objectives and pedagogical best practices.
Research and recommend integration of emerging technologies, ensuring alignment with the institution’s strategic plans.
Stay current with instructional design trends and support faculty through evidence‑based consultation.
Conduct needs assessments and guide the development of authentic assessments in collaboration with SMEs.
Create accessible and inclusive learning experiences using universal design for learning principles.
Manage the lifecycle of course design projects, balancing priorities, timelines, and stakeholder expectations.
Support the use of open educational resources in e‑learning.
Collaborate with Learning Technologies staff and distributed development teams.
Gather and analyze feedback from faculty and learners to iteratively improve course quality.
Be prepared to travel as required.
Qualifications & Skills
Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technologies, or a related field.
Minimum 2 years of practical experience developing interactive, technology‑rich courses at the post‑secondary level.
Proficiency with learning management systems and generative AI tools, and experience incorporating AR, VR, and 3D technologies into course design.
Advanced understanding of adult learning theories and instructional design models.
Ability to stay current with emerging educational technologies and make informed recommendations.
Strong creativity, initiative, and the ability to work independently as part of a collaborative team.
Excellent project management, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusive practices.
