We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to fill the role of Indigenous Student Success Coordinator. As the Indigenous Student Success Coordinator, you will manage the delivery of and strategic planning for the nitôncipâmin omâ (“We Are Here”) Student Success Program ( OMA Program). You will play an integral role within the University’s Indigenous Engagement Plan by developing, overseeing, and delivering support to a cohort of 20-30 first-year Indigenous students who come from a variety of backgrounds.

What You’ll Do:

Lead long-term strategic planning for the OMA program, identifying opportunities for growth, expansion of program streams, and diversification of offerings.
Oversee the daily implementation and ongoing facilitation of the OMA program, ensuring effective delivery of services and supports..
Identify success factors and areas for improvement, implementing changes to enhance program impact on Indigenous student enrolment and retention.
Meet with prospective and current students to assess program suitability and alignment with academic and career goals.
Identify areas of struggle for Indigenous students and provide specialized solutions to overcome barriers.
Develop student support plans and initiatives that include guidance counselling, career advising, and academic, personal, and cultural advising.
Plan events to maintain student morale and motivation for continuing to succeed academically and recognize student achievements.
Assist students with improving their study habits, understanding academic regulations, assessing their options, and decision-making qualities that impact their ability to succeed in university.
Facilitate mandatory review sessions for courses taken by OMA students, using instructional strategies such as guided instruction, small-group activities, and interactive learning techniques
Provide training and ongoing supervision for OMA tutors, including guidance on facilitating effective review sessions and supporting student learning.
Create and implement annual recruitment and promotion strategies
