RIWC - Regina Immigrant Women Centre is seeking a qualified & motivated English Language Instructor to join our Language Services team. A successful candidate will provide engaging, learner-centred support & instruction to adults in developing the communication skills needed to participate in Canadian society.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan & deliver engaging, learner-centred English instruction
  • Develop lesson plans & activities based on learners levels, goals & needs
  • Integrate practical settlement, employment, community & everyday-life topics into instruction
  • Assess learner progress & provide feedback
  • Maintain attendance, assessment & required documentation
  • Use appropriate digital tools & learning platforms to support instruction
  • Create inclusive, respectful, & supportive learning environment for learners from diverse cultural, educational & linguistic backgrounds
  • Participate in staff meetings, prof. dev., program planning & organization activities
  • Collaborate with colleagues & RIWC programs to support learner success
  • Follow program guidelines & RIWC policies & procedures
  • Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bach degree in Education, TESL, Applied Linguistics, English, or related field, or equivalent combination of education & relevant experience
  • Experience teaching English as an Additional Language to adults is preferred
  • Experience working with newcomers or culturally & linguistically diverse communities
  • Strong communication, organization, classroom management & interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt instruction to learners with different language levels, education & learning needs
  • Strong computer skills for instruction & documentation
  • Ability to work independently & as a team
Assets
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB)
  • Knowledge or experience with Portfolio-Based Language Assessment (PBLA)
  • TESL Canada cert. or equivalent
