- Sessionals Employee Group URFA CUPE 5791 Job Family N/A Category Sessional Number of Vacancies N/A Position Summary The Faculty of Social Work at the University of Regina invites applications for one Sessional Lecturer to teach the following blended course during the Winter 2027 semester:

SW 405 – Social Work with Indigenous Peoples

This course investigates theory and practices for social workers to support Indigenous individuals, families and communities in a variety of settings. The course explores the history of of oppression experienced by Indigenous peoples by government policies. Emphasis is placed on individual self-determination, cultural safety, Indigenous self-governance and societal decolonization.

The semester is from January 6, 2027 to April 28, 2027 with the final exam period running from April 15, 2027 to April 28, 2027.

Sessional Lecturers that are teaching blended delivery courses are expected to teach 5 synchronous remote delivery classes throughout the semester.

Expectations for Sessional Lecturers include, but aren’t limited to, the following:

• Preparing the course outline, designing relevant assignments, evaluating and grading student work, and submitting student grades by the required deadline.
• Teaching course content that follows the course description, established learning objectives, and university academic guidelines.
• Delivering 5 lectures throughout the semester (number of classes dependent on the delivery method).
• Encouraging and maintaining a safe and collaborative classroom environment.
• Providing regular support to students on course work during office hours, and as required by students.
• Consulting with the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs) on academic or student- related matters as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

Master of Social Work ( MSW )

· Demonstrated related experience appropriate to the course content description as listed above;

· Superior communications skills (both written and verbal);

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;

· Recent teaching experience in a post-secondary environment is considered an asset.

Physical Demands Pay Grade Faculty Sessional Salary Range As per URFA Collective Agreement Status Term Work Hours

This course will be taught Blended Delivery (where there will be Remote Delivery classes). The Sessional Lecturer is expected to teach lectures, be in the classroom or zoom classroom 10-15 minutes before each class starts, as well as offer regular office hours for their students each week.
