Position Summary The Faculty of Social Work at the University of Regina invites applications for one Sessional Lecturer to teach the following Regina in-person course during the Winter 2027 semester:

This course examines counselling theories and skills with a specific emphasis on their application to social work practice. The counselling relationship and counselling process in a variety of helping situations will be explored. Ethics involved with counselling will also be discussed.

Sessional Lecturers that are teaching are expected to teach 13 synchronous classes throughout the semester.

Expectations for Sessional Lecturers include, but aren’t limited to, the following:

• Preparing the course outline, designing relevant assignments, evaluating and grading student work, and submitting student grades by the required deadline.
• Teaching course content that follows the course description, established learning objectives, and university academic guidelines.
• Delivering 13 lectures throughout the semester. Encouraging and maintaining a safe and collaborative classroom environment.
• Providing regular support to students on course work during office hours, and as required by students.
• Consulting with the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs) on academic or student- related matters as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Master of Social Work ( MSW );
• Demonstrated related experience appropriate to the course content description as listed above;
• Superior communications skills (both written and verbal);
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
• Recent teaching experience in a post-secondary environment is considered an asset.

Pay Grade Faculty Sessional Salary Range As per URFA Collective Agreement Status Term Work Hours

This course is offered on Thursday’s 11:30 a.m. – 02:15 p.m.

The Sessional Lecturer is expected to teach on campus in-person in Regina (synchronous) for each of the 13 lectures, be in the classroom 10-15 minutes before each class starts, as well as offer regular office hours for their students each week.
