The Ministry of Energy and Resources (ER) is seeking a professional, collaborative, and self-directed individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills to fill a two-year term Engineer position beginning April 1, 2026.

Reporting to the Manager of Facilities, Field Services Branch, this position plays a key role within the area to provide technical and regulatory expertise, advice, and direction related to the design, construction, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning of oil and gas facilities in Saskatchewan. We are looking for a person with a demonstrated commitment to the values of the Ministry of Energy and Resources related to teamwork, innovation, professionalism, integrity and client focus.

The duties/responsibilities of this position include:

  • Performing engineering reviews of technical applications submitted by industry, including interpreting process flow diagrams, equipment spacing diagrams, surveys, and piping and instrumentation diagrams;
  • Utilizing regulation, industry engineering standards, and technical literature;
  • Assisting industry and other stakeholders in interpreting regulation
  • Establishing and maintaining effective and productive working relationships;
  • Conducting audits and enforcing compliance;
  • Contributing to the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement/maintenance of policies, guidelines, and procedures;
  • Staying abreast of petroleum technologies and regulations of other jurisdictions; and
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • You will have knowledge of:

  • Acts, regulations, and directives administered by ER;
  • Design standards, construction, and operation of facilities; and
  • Microsoft Office software, geographical information systems, and business intelligence software.
  • You will have:

  • Research, problem solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Thorough and conscientious to ensure quality work.
  • The successful candidate will have a degree in engineering and be registered or eligible to be registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientist of Saskatchewan.

    The successful candidate must have a valid driver’s license; some travel may be required.
