Senior Geochemist / Senior Hydrogeochemist
We are looking for a senior expert to lead and support geochemical, hydrogeochemical, and hydrogeological projects in the mining sector across Canada. This role requires a high standard of scientific excellence and will involve planning, implementation, and technical leadership for projects spanning baseline studies, permitting, operations, monitoring, closure, post‑closure monitoring, and special investigations.
Responsibilities- Lead and support the planning and implementation of geochemical, hydrogeochemical, and/or hydrogeological projects.
- Direct project managers on projects that support all phases of mining such as baseline studies, permitting, operational support and monitoring, closure planning, post‑closure monitoring, and special investigations.
- Provide senior technical leadership and insight for geochemical/hydrogeochemical projects, offering senior technical support internally and externally.
- Supervise, mentor, and assist in the development of technical skills of junior and intermediate level staff.
- Contribute geochemical or hydrogeochemical expertise to large multidisciplinary projects in collaboration with other senior staff.
- Represent Trinity Consultants Canada Water and Ecology in the scientific community through high‑quality deliverables, industry engagement, and participation in technical conferences.
- Advanced degree in a relevant field.
- Professional registration (PGeo., PEng., or eligible).
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including experience in aqueous geochemistry investigations, acid rock drainage/metal leaching assessment, water quality, and monitoring program design and implementation (surface water, groundwater, and sediment).
- Experience with water quality and geochemical modelling (e.g., Gold Sim, PHREEQC, Geochemist’s Workbench, CE-QUAL-W2) is an asset.
- Effective analytical and technical editing and review skills, with the ability to ensure the delivery of high‑quality reports and proposals.
- Strong consulting acumen, self‑directed, motivated, and a track record of achieving a high degree of client satisfaction.
- Experience in providing senior‑level review and oversight.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, exceptional people skills, and works well in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate complex scientific information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences including team members, clients, and regulators.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and multi‑tasking skills.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality, excellence, and ethics.
- Experience in the mining sector an asset.
The posted range is $80.00 to $104.00 per hour. Starting pay is determined based on education, qualifications, and relevant experience.
