WSP is a global professional services firm that supports clients across multiple sectors. We seek a Contaminated Sites Intermediate Environmental Scientist to join the Remediation Program Management team in Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg or Regina.
The Opportunity
WSP’s RPM team is one of the most established and exciting teams in Canada. The team provides contaminated site program management services to technically focused companies for over 15 years, dealing with health and safety, Phase I/II ESAs, risk assessment and remediation. Projects range in type, size and complexity across Canada. The candidate will coordinate and conduct field work related to monitoring, investigating and remediating contaminated sites impacted by hydrocarbons, fertilizers and metals, and prepare technical reports.
The role requires strong time‑management, communication skills and self‑motivation.
Your Impact
Prepare and adhere to site‑specific health and safety plans to mitigate or eliminate risks to you, WSP clients, employees and the public.
Project coordination, including set‑up of field work programs, preparation of field work instructions, budget and schedule management and subcontractor management.
Conduct field work including soil, groundwater, surface water and sediment investigations, monitoring programs and oversee site remediation.
Participate in a team environment, working closely with and supporting Project Managers and Field Technicians.
Prepare proposals, including development of work scopes, schedules, and cost estimates for senior review.
Complete and assist in data collection, compilation, interpretation and reporting for phased environmental site assessment, remediation and site monitoring.
Prepare technical reports for review by senior staff.
Mentor junior staff in conducting environmental site assessments.
The Skills That Set You Apart
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (sciences and/or engineering).
Minimum 1 year of experience in contaminated site assessments.
Sound understanding of the need for health and safety procedures in the workplace; possess a safety‑conscious attitude.
Remedial excavation experience required.
Previous experience with soil and groundwater sampling.
Understanding of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba environmental regulations.
Professional designation is preferred.
Experience in the oil and gas sector is an asset.
Preference will be given to those with extensive experience in soil and groundwater monitoring programs, Phase I and II environmental site assessments, site remediation, and provincial regulations.
Compensation
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YK: $60,100 – $79,600
MB & ON: $54,800 – $75,400
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $54,200 – $72,000
