The Strategic and Corporate Services Branch is seeking an organized, service-oriented and flexible individual with financial planning and critical analytical experience to join our team as the Senior Budget and Financial Planning Consultant for a twelve-month term.
This role will provide financial management, advisory, policy, interpretative, consultative and research services covering a wide range of financial planning and corporate services initiatives.
Reporting to the Director, Corporate Services, this role will:
Provide advice and guidance on the budget development process, including working collaboratively with program areas on business case development, preparing and presenting budget materials, as well as briefing materials for senior officials and executive leadership.
Provide policy development services with recommendations for management related to accountability, financial policies, standards, operating and funding issues.
Analyzes emerging issues, assesses financial impacts and develops mitigation strategies to address the issues identified, including the development of funding options for the ministry.
Perform financial forecasting, reporting, and operational metrics tracking. This includes analyzing financial data and creating financial models for decision support and reporting on financial performance.
Provide advisory, analytical, consultative and research services covering a wide range of programs and strategic initiatives to support budget development, financial planning and decision making.
Analyzes past results, performs variance analysis, identifies trends, and makes recommendations for improvements.
Ad hoc reports, tools, and Excel dashboards.
Supporting corporate services functions, projects and tasks as required.
Our ideal candidate will be an innovative thinker with outstanding organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, extensive knowledge of corporate or government financial planning and experience in a complex work environment. The ability to think analytically and creatively to support the Ministry's vision.
Typically, the knowledge would be gained through a Business Administration/Commerce degree with a focus on finance and/or public policy, in addition to several years of directly related financial planning and policy experience.
