Responsibilities Leadership & Governance:
Foster a healthy, efficient, and innovative workplace that values safety, teamwork, and service excellence. Provide strategic leadership to administration, mentor staff development, support succession planning, and maintain a strong, transparent working relationship with Council built on trust, communication, and collaboration. Provide timely reports, recommendations, and advice on operational, legislative, and strategic matters. Work with the Chief Financial Officer to prepare and monitor annual operating and capital budgets.
Ensure provincial and federal financial reporting requirements are met. Provide guidance on municipal assets, investments, and debentures. Identify and pursue grant opportunities to support Council’s priorities.
Administration & Development:
Oversee capital projects, infrastructure, and municipal services to meet community needs. Lead long-term planning for land use, economic development, and capital investment. Ensure policies, procedures, and programs are current, effective, and compliant with legislation. Recruit and retain qualified, service-oriented staff to deliver quality municipal services.
Legislative Responsibilities:
Implement Council’s decisions efficiently and effectively. Attend Council and committee meetings as required. Interpret and apply The Municipalities Act and other applicable legislation. Ensure alignment between Council’s strategic plan and administrative practices. Support a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
Qualifications Standard Certificate issued by the Urban Board of Examiners
Post-secondary education in a relevant field
Experience as a CAO or in a senior municipal administrative role preferred
Strong leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills
