The Ministry of Environment, Lands Branch is seeking a detail oriented and tactful individual to fill a key position as a Land Claims Policy Analyst located in Regina. In this position, you will play a key role in the ministry’s Policy and Programs Unit through providing program coordination, correspondence, research, and analytical skills for the administration of Treaty Land Entitlement and Land Claim selections for the ministry.
As the Land Claims Policy Analyst, you will:
Provide correspondence, research, analysis and policy and program recommendations regarding Treaty Land Entitlement and First Nations Land Claims;Conduct Duty to Consult and First Nations Engagement where appropriate;Verbally and in writing, explain complex issues, administrative matters, policies, procedures, programs while referencing legislation and other information to a variety of audiences;Accurately, concisely and in a timely manner compose, record, proofread and/or edit a variety of documents with regard to Land Claims;Succinctly reference and interpret acts, regulations, policies and guidelines;Search for and assess data/information to develop materials, reports and/or make decisions/recommendations/conclusions about the application of programs, policies, procedures, acts, regulations, guidelines and contracts; andCreate and generate queries, reports and documents using internet, word processing databases, spreadsheets and other software packages.Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Strong analytical and research skills for developing solutions and policies;Knowledge of Treaty Land Entitlement and Duty to Consult;Knowledge of government structures, legislation and policy processes;Ability to build and maintain co-operative and collaborative relationships with colleagues, team members, business clients, external stakeholders and service providers;Attention to detail and time management skills to ensure work is being completed accurately and on time, and
The ability to independently move through established processesTypically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be obtained through an undergraduate degree in geography, land use planning, or public policy administration or in related fields of study and several years of progressively responsible experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
