The Building Services Branch in the Ministry of Sask Builds and Procurement is seeking a confident, motivated, and results‑oriented individual with strong analytical, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills for the Data Analyst position. The Data Analyst is a member of the Property Systems and Security Unit, responsible for providing technical application support, data analysis, and reporting services to the Ministry. The work unit focuses on supporting business systems and developing data and reporting solutions that enhance client decision‑making and operational effectiveness.

A key role is to translate clients' business needs into accurate, reliable data solutions through effective use of information technology. The work unit collaborates closely with external partners, including the Information Technology Division and system vendors, and supports a diverse client base across the Ministry.

In this challenging and rewarding position, the Data Analyst provides technical leadership and support to ensure client requirements, service standards, and government priorities are met. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Designing, developing, maintaining, and optimizing Microsoft Access applications, SQL queries, reports, and dashboards;
  • Analyzing and validating data from multiple sources to ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency;
  • Troubleshooting system, reporting issues, and implementing effective solutions;
  • Planning, testing, and implementing changes to applications and reports; and
  • Documenting processes and providing technical guidance to business users.
  • Knowledge of database design, data analysis, reporting tools, and application support practices is required, along with experience using Microsoft Access, SQL, VBA, Power BI, and Microsoft Excel.

    Typically, the knowledge required for this position would be attained through completion of a two‑year diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, supplemented by relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and training.

    A - SGEU Office 36 - one day off every two weeks
