General Accountability
The Corporate Underwriting Training Specialist is responsible for the development and maintenance of all training and learning assets for underwriter onboarding, processes, technology, and corporate initiatives. This position provides oversight on onboarding learning program delivery, including any modifications to the learning plans to support regional or individual learners needs for peer-to-peer onboarding provided by the operational Technical Trainer. The Corporate Underwriting Training Specialist is accountable for delivery of classroom onboarding of new-to-role Underwriter Assistants, Underwriter I/Jr, Underwriter II/Intermediate, and Senior Underwriters.
This position supports underwriting technical training program development by contributing to analysis, design, development, planning, and monitoring the projects progress through to implementation in collaboration with Talent Development, Corporate Underwriting, Product Management, Operational Underwriting, and other key areas. This position is responsible for implementation, delivery, and continuous improvement of training programming for the operational teams within SGI CANADA Underwriting.

Underwriting Training Program Development, Analysis and Maintenance
Develops and maintains onboarding learning assets and programs for new-to-role Underwriting Assistants, Underwriter I/Jr, Underwriter II/Intermediate, and Senior Underwriters.
Collaborates with Human Resources Talent Development (e.g., Instructional Designers, Digital Learning Consultants), Corporate (including underwriting, claims training and quality assurance) and Operational business area subject matter experts (SME’s) during learning design and program development, including the creation and modification of training content and materials.
Develops and maintains onboarding, processing and training content and materials for underwriting support areas (i.e. Risk Evaluators, Underwriting Admin Support, etc.).
Actions any items identified regarding accuracy, relevancy and effectiveness of all onboarding programs and sessions.
Analyzes surveys and other underwriting-related data to identify training needs or gaps.
Underwriter Onboarding Training Delivery and Operational Support
Delivers classroom onboarding training programs for new-to-role Underwriters.
Monitors the progress of classroom underwriting learner adoption to training outcomes, identifies where additional targeted performance support and coaching is needed, and provides progress updates to leadership
Provides feedback on underwriting classroom learners training progress to training and operational manager.
Supports peer-to-peer onboarding programs delivered by Technical Trainers by providing guidance and direction on how to effectively deliver instructional training and how to monitor/modify/adjust based on learners’ progress through the program, escalating when necessary. This includes providing effective coaching techniques to the Technical Trainer to support the learner’s performance development.
Collaborates with operational technical trainers to ensure any modification to standard learning programs encompass appropriate materials and lessons based on individual by assessing prior learning, knowledge, and work experience to adapt program to the individual learner when needed.
