Cyber Security SpecialistOur client is looking for a Cyber Security Specialist to oversee and maintain their cybersecurity framework by implementing and monitoring advanced security controls across both on‑prem and cloud environments. The role focuses on proactively identifying and mitigating cybersecurity risks. This position is fully onsite in Regina.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:Deliver detailed security incident investigation reports and post‑incident, lessons‑learned documentation for any cybersecurity incidentsProvide ongoing vulnerability‑scan outputs and remediation‑tracking reports (using Tenable One) to give stakeholders visibility into risk levels and remediation progressPrepare routine security‑posture and compliance summaries, including Azure Secure Score dashboards and related metrics, to keep management informed of current status and ongoing improvementsDocument alignment of security controls with NIST CSF, ISO 27001, and applicable CSA standards to support regulatory audits and internal compliance requirementsMaintain up‑to‑date cybersecurity deliverables such as security‑policy documents, standard operating procedures, network diagrams, and system security plans for nuclear‑related projects and systems.Your strengths include:Over 5 years of hands‑on experience in IT security or cybersecurity, with university degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information SecurityProven background working with cloud and enterprise security technologies, including Microsoft Azure, the Microsoft Defender suite, Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM), and vulnerability management platforms such as Tenable OneSkilled in configuring and leveraging these tools for threat detection, analysis, and automated responseCompetency with Power Shell, JSON, Kusto Query Language (KQL), Logic Apps, or similar scripting languagesStrong understanding of industry cybersecurity frameworks and standards, including the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO/IEC 27001/27002, and applicable CSA security standardsSolid knowledge of incident response processes and best practices for managing cybersecurity incidentsExcellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with the capability to evaluate complex systems for security risksExperienced in examining system logs, alerts, and forensic data from network, endpoint, and cloud sources to identify and resolve security threatsExperience in highly regulated or critical infrastructure sectors — such as energy utilities or the nuclear industry — is considered an assetFamiliarity with cybersecurity requirements and challenges in industrial or power system environments, including SCADA/ICS systems, is beneficialRelevant security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC, or Microsoft Certified:
Azure Security Engineer Associate are an advantage
