Position Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer / Production Support Analyst to provide ongoing application support, troubleshooting, maintenance, and enhancements within a mainframe environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with COBOL, DB2, JCL, VSAM, and IDMS, along with solid production support skills. This role involves resolving incidents, supporting application changes, participating in projects, and coordinating with technical and business teams to ensure system stability and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day production support for mainframe applications, ensuring system availability, stability, and performance.Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve application incidents and production issues in a timely manner.Develop, maintain, debug, and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL, DB2, JCL, VSAM, and IDMS.Investigate application failures, batch processing issues, database errors, and performance-related problems.Support Requests for Change (RFCs), including impact analysis, development, testing, implementation, and post-deployment validation.Participate in application enhancement initiatives and project-related development activities.Use Service Now to manage incidents, service requests, changes, and problem tickets.Coordinate with developers, infrastructure teams, database administrators, and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues.Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive solutions.Support batch job scheduling, monitoring, troubleshooting, and recovery activities.Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and support knowledge articles.Participate in on-call support rotations, including after-hours incident resolution when required.Required Qualifications and Technical Skills
Proven experience in mainframe application development, maintenance, and production support.Strong hands-on programming experience with COBOL.Solid working knowledge of DB2 for database queries, troubleshooting, and application support.Proficiency with JCL (Job Control Language) for batch job execution, monitoring, and troubleshooting.Experience working with VSAM (Virtual Storage Access Method) files.Working knowledge of IDMS (Integrated Database Management System).Experience supporting business-critical applications in a production environment.Familiarity with Service Now for incident, problem, and change management.Experience working with Requests for Change (RFCs) and supporting project implementations.Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical teams.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Willingness and availability to participate in on-call support.Ideal Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be a hands-on Mainframe Developer with strong production support experience, capable of troubleshooting complex application issues, implementing enhancements, and supporting business-critical systems.
The candidate must be comfortable working in a collaborative environment, managing incidents through Service Now, supporting RFCs and projects, and participating in on-call rotations.
