Job Description

Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables

Inspect machined parts and tooling to maintain quality control standards

Inspect, test, and adjust new and reworked tools, dies, gauges, jigs and fixtures for conformance to specifications, e.g., dimensions, tolerances, and hardness

Work for machinery, equipment, motor vehicle, automotive parts, aircraft, and other metal products manufacturing companies and for machine shops

Verify dimensions of machined parts or tooling using micrometers, verniers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators, coordinate measuring machines (CMM) or other specialized measuring instruments

Apply knowledge of tool and die design, shop mathematics, and machining and testing procedures, using precision measuring instruments, testing equipment, and hand tools

Report deviations from specifications and tolerances to supervisor and complete and maintain inspection reports

Examine defective parts to determine cause of defect and recommend changes or modifications

Work in wood manufacturing and food processing plants, as well as in refineries

Fit and assemble machined metal parts and subassemblies using hand and power tools and verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments

Write reports regarding inspection and testing results

Requirements

3 – 5 years proven working experience in related field

Must have a strong attention to detail

Able to communicate complicated technical ideas with precision and clarity

Need to have good physical mobility

Able to lift heavy objects and handle production pressures calmly

Able to work in a team

Can work 35 – 40 hours per week
