QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY

Registered Nursing License in good standing with the Provincial College of Nurses
Current CPR, ACLS, CTAS Certification
Minimum 1 year experience in ER Unit
Vulnerable Sector Screen renewed within the year
Professional Liability Insurance

SKILLS & ABILITY

High level proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and hospital software applications.
Ability to think critically and multitask in a high-pressure situation.
Ability to organize and manage an office setting and work with all.
Experience supervising staff, including performance management and task direction.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member; establishing and maintaining cooperative and collaborative working relationships with members of the interdisciplinary team, and exercising judgment by participating in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care according to college standards.
Behavior consistent with the hospital’s Standards of Performance.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs according to the Standards of Professional Practice set out by the Provincial College of Nurses of and in compliance with the policies, procedures and standards of the facility.
Accepts clinical responsibility and professional accountability for the care delivered to assigned patients.
Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team, fulfilling responsibilities as a member of the nursing discipline.
Complies with The Ethical Framework for Nurses.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

Collaborates with emergency physicians, paramedics, and the interdisciplinary ED team to provide rapid, coordinated care to patients with urgent and emergent conditions.

Performs swift, focused assessments of incoming ER patients by obtaining relevant history, monitoring vital signs, and identifying life‑threatening concerns.

Implements physician orders, administers emergency medications and treatments, initiates lifesaving interventions, and works closely with the ER team to stabilize patients.

Continuously reassesses patient status, evaluates responses to emergency interventions, and adjusts care priorities based on rapidly changing clinical situations.

Educates patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plans, discharge instructions, and strategies to prevent future emergencies.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Carry out all work assignments safely and be knowledgeable of and in compliance with relevant regulations, policies and procedures in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations, as well as other legislation as applicable.
