Qualifications Necessary:
Registered Nursing License in good standing with the Provincial College of NursesCurrent CPRMinimum 1 year experience in Med/Surg UnitVulnerable Sector Screen renewed within the yearProfessional Liability InsuranceSkills & Ability:
High level of proficiency with Microsoft office applications, hospital software applications.Ability to think critically and multitask in a high-pressure situation.Ability to organize and manage an office setting and work with all.Experience supervising staff including performance management, and task direction.Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member; establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships with members of the interdisciplinary team, and exercise judgment by participating in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care according to college standards.Behavior consistent with the hospital’s Standards of Performance.Basic Responsibilities:
Performs according to the Standards of Professional Practice set out by the Provincial College of Nurses of and in compliance with the policies, procedures and standards of the facilityAccepts clinical responsibility and professional accountability for the care delivered to assigned patients.Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team, fulfilling responsibilities as a member of the nursing discipline.Complies with The Ethical Framework for NursesSpecific Duties:
Participate and collaborate with other health care providers in the provision of patient careAssesses patients by obtaining relevant history and completing physical examInitiates orders/ administration of treatment(s), medications, and diagnostic tests according to findings and collaborates with physicians, primary care providers and family health teams as needed.Evaluates outcomes based on clinical skills/judgement and patient improvementsEducate patients on preventative care and the need to adhere to prescribed treatments.Carry out all work assignments safely and be knowledgeable of and in compliance with relevant regulations, policies and procedures in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations, as well as other legislation as applicable.Conditions of Employment:
