QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY

Registered Nursing License in good standing with the Provincial College of Nurses
Current CPR, ACLS, Critical Care Certificate
Minimum 1 year experience in ICU
Vulnerable Sector Screen renewed within the year
Professional Liability Insurance

SKILLS & ABILITY

High level of proficiency with Microsoft office applications, hospital software applications.
Ability to think critically and multitask in a high-pressure situation.
Ability to organize and manage an office setting and work with all.
Experience supervising staff including performance management, and task direction.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member; establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships with members of the interdisciplinary team, and exercise judgment by participating in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care according to college standards.
Behavior consistent with the hospital’s Standards of Performance.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs according to the Standards of Professional Practice set out by the Provincial College of Nurses of and in compliance with the policies, procedures and standards of the facility
Accepts clinical responsibility and professional accountability for the care delivered to assigned patients.
Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team, fulfilling responsibilities as a member of the nursing discipline.
Complies with The Ethical Framework for Nurses

SPECIFIC DUTIES

Collaborates with intensivists, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary critical care team to provide coordinated care to critically ill patients.

Performs rapid and ongoing assessments of ICU patients, including reviewing history, monitoring vital signs, and conducting focused physical exams.

Implements physician orders, titrates critical medications within protocol, initiates urgent interventions, and collaborates with the critical care team as needed.

Continuously evaluates patient responses to treatments using advanced clinical judgment and adjusts care plans based on changing conditions.

Educates patients and families about the ICU care process, treatment plans, and strategies for recovery and complication prevention.

Carry out all work assignments safely and be knowledgeable of and in compliance with relevant regulations, policies and procedures in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations, as well as other legislation as applicable.
