04.The Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport’s mission is to enhance economic growth and support quality of life by managing the provincial parks system and providing recreation, sport, heritage and cultural opportunities for residents and visitors. The Ministry is currently seeking a dynamic and highly motivated individual who is a flexible team player for the position of Park Maintenance Worker for provincial park lands within Regina Beach Recreation Site of Saskatchewan Parks Service.
Reporting to the Site Supervisor, this position will be involved in the maintenance program.
As a Park Maintenance Worker, you will perform a variety of repair and general maintenance activities on buildings and grounds. You will operate light to heavy equipment such as light trucks, mowers, ATV’s, and power tools. You will perform janitorial and sanitation functions, pick up and disposal of garbage and debris. You will also assist with maintenance and care of park facilities and grounds.
This position involves frequent lifting, carrying and moving supplies and equipment. Comply with risk management standards, OH&S, Public Health Regulations, WHMIS, and TDG. The candidate must possess a current valid Driver’s License. The candidate must be available to work on weekends, evenings, and statutory holidays.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of basic cleaning methods (materials, equipment and methods commonly used in housekeeping/janitorial and sanitation activities); safe equipment and building operation, maintenance and minor repair. You will have knowledge of WHMIS and OH&S Regulations.
The successful candidate will have experience and the ability to perform building and/or park maintenance, using common hand tools and light equipment. You will have the ability to work independently and/or as a contributing member of a park team to complete work assignments and contribute towards a positive working environment. You will also have the ability to respond accurately, clearly and courteously to inquiries from the general public.
You will have the ability to identify problems, consider various options and determine appropriate course of action, physically perform tasks such as lifting, carrying or moving supplies and equipment such as picnic tables and cleaning supplies and pumps.
