Seasonal Labourer​/Park and Golf Course

The City of Swift Current is inviting applications for Three (3) positions of Seasonal Labourer in the Community Services Division. Under the direction of the Parks Superintendent/Chinook Golf Course Superintendent, you will assist with the maintenance of City parks and green spaces, Chinook Golf Course, sports field grounds and related City properties. This will include mowing, string trimming, top dressing, aerating and fertilizing turf, along with application of herbicide.

Other duties will include daily maintenance of parks washroom facilities and playgrounds, working indoors on the construction and refinishing of park furniture. In addition, you may be required to assist the Cemeterian in opening and closing of graves.

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Completion of Respect Group Training and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check upon hire
• Valid Class 5 SK Driver'ss License
• Ability to operate small gas engines/powered equipment (e.g. lawn mowers, rototillers, string trimmers, etc.)
• Ability to operate/ ride grass mowing equipment and tractors
• Ability to perform outdoor physical labour in all weather conditions
• Ability to work alone or alongside a crew
• Ability to arrive to work on time, all the time
• Ability to engage with coworkers including management
• Ability to work in the evenings and on weekends as needed

• Previous experience in the operation of utility tractors (20-80 hp)
• Previous experience in irrigation system maintenance and troubleshooting
• Occupational Health and Safety training
• Previous experience with parks maintenance, landscaping, and golf courses
• SK Pesticide Applicator'ss License Class 3 (Landscape Class)
• Mechanical aptitude and experience in maintaining small gas engines.

The starting wage for this position is $23.51 in accordance with the City of Swift Current/CUPE 183 Collective Agreement.
