Duties
Provide technical support and leadership for projects focused on Beef Cattle, Forage, Grazing and Ruminant Nutrition.
Contribute to the experimental design and planning of experiments.
Implement and monitor research projects under barn, field, and greenhouse conditions.
Maintain animal nutrition and greenhouse gas quantification laboratories.
Help develop laboratory standard operating procedures for research activities.
Assist with the Swift Current Research and Development Center’s Animal Care Protocols and Animal Use Data Form to maintain Canadian Council on Animal Care “Good Animal Practice Requirement.”
Maintain forage field plots.
Collect data as per protocols and complete required sample analyses.
Draft reports and contribute to the preparation of research reports and presentations.
Maintain equipment and quality control data to ensure accurate results.
Input data and provide initial statistical analyses following developed model procedures.
Provide guidance and supervision, assigning duties to team members, including summer students and graduate students.
Intent of the Process
Immediate need: one full‑time temporary position for approximately nine months. A pool of qualified and partially qualified candidates may be established for similar positions. Employees of the public service selected through this process may be considered for various employment opportunities.

Valid Class 5 Saskatchewan driver’s license or an equivalent provincial/territorial license.
Willingness to work overtime, evenings, and weekends.
Ability to control allergies using personal protective equipment or medication, so that duties are not impaired.
Willingness to work in field, barn, laboratory, and greenhouse environments.
Willingness to work under various environmental and weather conditions.
Willingness to work with hazardous chemicals and biological materials.
Essential Requirements
Education and Training
Graduation with a degree or diploma from a recognized post‑secondary institution specializing in Animal Science, Animal Nutrition, Pasture and Grazing Management, Forage Science, Range Ecology, Biology, Microbiology, or a related field; or an acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Documentation of credentials will be required at a later stage.
Certificates obtained outside Canada must be assessed against Canadian education standards.
Experience
Experience working with cattle and managing animal feeding trials.
Experience providing technical support in field and laboratory environments.
Experience in data management, preparing data summaries, and preparing technical or scientific written materials.
Knowledge and competencies considered for assessment at a later date:
Field and laboratory methodologies related to ruminant nutrition, forage production, and research evaluation techniques.
Animal production and care.
Adaptability, concern for safety, planning and organizing.
Language Requirements
