This role offers a unique opportunity to provide essential care and advocacy directly to women in a supportive shelter environment.
As a part of the Women’s Housing team, you will focus on harm reduction and trauma-informed care for residents of the shelter. Your expertise in building therapeutic relationships and understanding Indigenous cultural traditions will be key in supporting women with complex needs, ensuring their well-being during their stay. Collaborate with team members to create individualized plans that advocate for housing and community integration.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide trauma-informed care and advocacy to residents
• Develop individual plans with residents and families
• Stay engaged with Indigenous communities and cultural practices
• Maintain shelter cleanliness to ensure resident safety
• Assist in administrative tasks like intake and record-keeping
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field
• First Aid and CPR certification required
• Experience with Indigenous peoples and trauma-informed practices
• Strong communication and crisis intervention skills
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license preferred
