Responsibilities
Inspect and maintain track structure and right-of-way to specifications
Supervise and support track crews to ensure quality maintenance and safe work performance
Inspect completed track work and approve track for service
Maintain train operating restrictions in alignment with track standards
Implement safety directives and support safety programs
Drive trucks to transport materials, equipment, and personnel to and from job sites
Load and unload cargo while securing loads according to safety standards
Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and team members
Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance issues
Remove and replace defective ties, rail spikes, and anchors
Correct deviations in track surface, alignment, and gauge
Install and repair street and railroad crossings
Assist in the repair of power‑operated switches and insulated joints
Unload ballast and distribute track materials
Sort used track materials for loading
Clear brush, vegetation, snow, and debris from right‑of‑way
Establish and maintain drainage systems
Complete work, inventory, and inspection reports
Follow all safety standards, operating rules, and procedures
Qualifications
Must be eligible to work and reside within Canada
Experience in similar working conditions
High School Diploma or GED
Valid driver’s license
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Ability to lead by example and prioritize safety
Ability to work independently and handle physical demands
