Purpose of the Position
As a Supervisor, you will take the lead in planning, scheduling, and assigning resources to ensure all repairs and servicing are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. This role is pivotal in driving operational excellence while fostering a strong safety‑first culture. The ideal candidate is a confident leader who communicates effectively, inspires teamwork, and holds themselves and others accountable for delivering exceptional results.
Position Accountabilities
Lead and motivate a unionized team responsible for maintenance, inspections, testing, and repairs on locomotives, mobile equipment, and vehicles used in plant, yard, and road service
Ensure all repairs and train servicing meet regulatory and company standards, including Association of American Railroads (AAR), Transport Canada, and CPKC policies
Collaborate with internal and external partners to enhance operational fluidity and achieve compliance with the Local Service Operating Plan and overall Operating Plan
Drive accountability for performance metrics, including safety, service, productivity, and financial results
Champion safety compliance within the terminal by enforcing standards, implementing corrective actions, and leading proactive safety discussions to foster a culture of safety.
Conduct thorough shift briefings to ensure accurate documentation and seamless communication with the next Supervisor on duty
Mentor and coach team members through active observation, constructive feedback, and ongoing skill development
Position Requirements
High school diploma or general equivalency
Valid driver’s license
2 years’ previous supervisory experience in logistics or an operational environment is preferred
Available to work all types of shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays in all weather conditions
Ability to drill down, understand root cause and resolve complex issues
Excellent focus, attention to detail and ability to multitask
Read and understand safety instructions, operating rules and regulations and other written or printed material in English
Proficient in MS Office Outlook, Word, and Excel
