The Nutrition Services Ambassador is accountable for meal service for all patients on a daily basis to ensure they receive meals that are accurate and beneficial for their wellbeing. Working under direct supervision, this role helps obtain the patient’s menu selection and processes the orders to ensure they meet the patient’s specific health needs. The role also communicates any patient concerns to the appropriate clinical dietitian to help the patient receive any additional care if needed.
Responsibilities- Obtains the patient’s menu selection and processes tray tickets according to the patient’s specific diet prescription.
- Helps process customer and patient meal orders and ensures they adhere to special diet requests in order to deliver high‑quality food service.
- Ensures adherence to diet orders while visiting patients to obtain or deliver meal selections.
- Serves correct food and beverages to patients in accordance with their diet in order to provide necessary nourishments.
- Supports with assembling food trays, delivering food trays, and removing food trays from units following all meals in an efficient and quick way.
- Helps keep track of the amount of meals served, cashier reports, and inventory to keep inventory up‑to‑date and effectively document business processes.
- Communicates any patient concerns to the clinical dietitian such as education needs or inadequate meal consumption in order to ensure the patient receives the necessary care.
- Serves as the point of contact for patient care units to facilitate the connection between the patient’s nutrition and health.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
