The Post

The College is seeking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic, and hardworking teacher to join the successful Product Design Department.

The post is available from 24 August 2026 to 31 August 2027 on fixed-term, part-time basis (38.10% over 2 days). The post would equally suit an experienced or Early Careers Teacher (ECT). For ECTs, a full programme of training and development will be provided.

All new members of staff receive mentors to help them settle into the College. This post provides an exciting opportunity for those wishing to specialise in sixth form education. Candidates who have little or no experience teaching A Level Product Design are still encouraged to apply, as the Department are able to support those wishing to make the transition to sixth form teaching.

The

Department

The Department is located in the Rushworth Building in fully equipped classrooms with access to IT. The team consists of six other teachers and two experienced technicians, who work closely in a collaborative style, contributing to central teaching resources.

The Department is led by a Head of Department, supported by Course Leaders for each of the qualifications offered. The Department meets once a week during the College’s dedicated Meeting Slot during the College day.

The Department has an excellent record of outstanding student achievement, high quality provision and innovative curriculum development. Students regularly progress onto university courses for Product Design, Design Engineering, Architecture, Spatial Architecture, Landscape Design, Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Environmental Design and Teaching.

Courses

The Department offers the following qualifications:

  • Engineering A Level Equivalent

The salary for this post is up to £20,281.39 per annum (FTE £53,232).

The contact time for a full-time teacher is 21 hours per week (20 hours teaching and 1 hour Tutor). ECTs receive a 5% or 10% reduction on their timetable depending on whether they are a first or second year ECT.
