Science Teacher - Transition into SEND
Ready to swap crowd control for true connection? If you are a mainstream Science Teacher feeling like you spend more time managing a room of 30 than actually teaching, this is the career pivot you've been looking for. Join us in Chaldon, Surrey, in our brand-new specialist secondary school. Here, we don't just "manage" classes; we build environments where students with autism and complex needs can finally thrive.
The DetailsSalary: £34,398 - £48,913 (M1 - UPS1 Fringe)
Bonus: £5,000 Welcome Bonus for Qualified Teachers
Hours: 40 hours per week (Finish at 4:00 PM on Fridays!)
Location: Chaldon, Surrey (Near Rockshaw Road)
Why Mainstream Teachers Love This Role
Moving from a mainstream setting to our school means trading "one-size-fits-all" teaching for a truly personalised approach.
Small Classes, Big Impact: Forget the 30-student lecture. You will work with small groups, supported by a dedicated multi-disciplinary team, allowing you to actually see the progress each child makes.
A "Start-Up" Feel: As a founding member of our team, you will help shape the Science curriculum and school ethos from the ground up.
Holistic Teaching: You aren't just hitting GCSE targets; you are teaching life skills, emotional regulation, and social communication through the lens of Science.
Expert Support: You'll work alongside therapists and SEND specialists, gaining an incredible new toolkit for your teaching career.
The Role
As our Science Teacher, you will deliver high-quality, engaging lessons tailored to students with social communication and sensory processing needs. Your focus is on the "whole child"-their welfare and outcomes are just as important as their academic progress.
What you'll be doing:
Personalising Science: Differentiating the National Curriculum to spark curiosity in students with a wide range of needs.
Collaborating: Working with parents, carers, and outside agencies to ensure every student has a cohesive support plan.
Mentoring: Supervising support staff and providing subject leadership across the school.
Planning for Success: Using short, medium, and long-term plans to create a stable, structured learning environment.
You don't need to be an SEND expert yet-we value your subject knowledge and your passion for teaching. We are looking for:
QTS/PGCE: You must be a Qualified Teacher.
Resilience: The ability to stay calm, reflective, and non-confrontational in challenging moments.
Creativity: A knack for making Science accessible and exciting for students with complex needs.
A Commuter's Mindset: Due to our beautiful (but rural) location, a driving license is highly desirable.
Join a group that priorities your professional development and gives you the time to actually teach.
