We are recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive specialist school in Reigate, working with pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs), Autism (ASC), SEND, and associated learning difficulties
.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Teaching Assistants, Behaviour Support Workers, Care Workers, Youth Workers, or mainstream school staff looking to transition into specialist SEN education and build a long-term career within the sector.
The RoleAs an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and SEN staff to support pupils both academically and emotionally within a structured, therapeutic, and nurturing environment.
You will play a key role in helping students develop confidence, emotional regulation, communication skills, and engagement with learning through positive relationships and consistent support.
Key Responsibilities- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Assisting with emotional regulation and behaviour support
- Supporting classroom learning, engagement, and participation
- Helping implement EHCP targets and personalised support strategies
Creating a calm, safe, and structured learning environment - Building strong and positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teachers and SEN teams
- Supporting pupils with additional learning, emotional, or personal care needs where required
- Encouraging confidence, independence, and social development
This role would suit:
- SEN Teaching Assistants or Learning Support Assistants
- Mainstream Teaching Assistants looking to move into SEND / SEMH
- Support Workers, Care Workers, Youth Workers, or Behaviour Mentors
- Psychology, Sociology, or Criminology graduates
- Individuals interested in mental health, therapy, or specialist education
