Specialist SEND Teaching Assistant - Complex Needs

Location:

Reigate, Surrey
Salary: £17,067 per annum (£24,420 FTE)

Hours:

Monday-Friday, 9:00am-3:30pm
Additional hours: 8:30am start one morning per week for a staff meeting

Contract:

Term time only

Are you a Teaching Assistant, SEND TA, Learning Support Assistant or Support Worker looking to develop your career supporting children with complex additional needs?

Next Gen Teachers are working with a specialist SEND school in Reigate looking for caring and committed Teaching Assistants to support children aged 2-11.

The school supports pupils with Autism (ASC), severe learning difficulties, complex medical needs and additional care requirements.

Full training and support is provided, making this an excellent opportunity for candidates with a background in education, care, healthcare, childcare or support work.

The Role

As a Specialist SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils
Help children access learning and classroom activities
Support pupils with Autism (ASC), severe learning difficulties and complex needs
Assist with complex medical and care requirements where needed
Encourage communication, independence and social development
Support pupils with their emotional wellbeing and regulation
Build positive and trusting relationships with children
Create a calm, safe and supportive classroom environment
Work closely with teachers, therapists and other specialist staff
Help pupils work towards their individual learning and development targets

Who We're Looking For

Previous experience working with SEND, SEN, Autism or complex needs is preferred but not essential.

We're particularly interested in candidates with experience as:

SEND Teaching Assistant / SEN Teaching Assistant
Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant
Support Worker / Children's Support Worker
Care Assistant / Healthcare Assistant
Residential Support Worker
Nursery Practitioner / Childcare Worker
Youth Worker
Healthcare or medical support professional

Experience in a care, healthcare or medical environment is particularly valuable due to the complex medical and care needs of some pupils.

Full Training Provided

You don't need to have experience with every aspect of specialist SEND education.

The school provides a comprehensive induction and ongoing training, giving you the knowledge and practical skills needed to support pupils with complex needs.

This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a specialist SEND school while working alongside experienced teachers and specialist staff.
