OpportunityWe are looking for a Senior Financial Performance Manager to join our Tesco Underwriting (TU) team in Reigate. You’ll support the Finance Director in driving the performance of our TU business and contribute to Tesco IMS strategy.
Responsibilities- Driving the development of the finance aspects of the underwriting & pricing strategy, the reinsurance strategy and the investment strategy.
- Supporting the TU Finance Director and IMS CFO in developing clear plans, actions and monitoring of performance against TU’s financial and growth ambitions.
- Working with other parts of the TU and broader Tesco IMS finance teams as well as internal business stakeholders (e.g. underwriting & pricing and the actuarial function) and external providers (e.g. AON, JP Morgan) this role will be the link between the business and the broader finance team for TU and IMS.
- Driving the analysis of competitor results to establish TU’s strengths and opportunities for performance improvement.
- Leading the running of the TU reinsurance and investment committees.
- Leading the development of the reinsurance and investment strategies.
- Developing clear inputs / outputs to support all aspects of reinsurance and investments for TU.
- Developing clear analysis and outputs to support a greater understanding of the reserving position.
- Developing clear metrics / measures for the optimisation of the use of capital for TU and put forward opportunities to manage capital more clearly in support of the dividend policy and capital management strategy of the business.
- Preparing and presenting reports for TU senior management on opportunities or challenges across the performance of TU.
- Analysing underwriter competitors’ results/performance, identifying where TU performance sits in the context of the market.
- Deep understanding of insurance underwriting profitability and performance.
- Understanding of key performance measures including reinsurance and investments.
- Knowledge of reinsurance contracts, features and financials.
- Knowledge of investment accounting and investment opportunities.
- Strong understanding of actuarial reserving outputs and impacts to the performance of the business.
- Managerial Experience.
- Understanding of Solvency II capital requirements and the key inputs in managing capital.
