Account Assistant – Protect

Salary:
From £28,000 - £35,000 (DOE) + annual bonus & benefits

Reigate Office Attendance:
Hybrid (travel to Reigate office 2 days per week)

We are looking for an Account Assistant to join our Insurance Money and Services team. The role focuses on timely and accurate Accounts Payable entries, including invoices, credit notes, payment runs and reconciliations, while building positive relationships with key partners and stakeholders.

What you’ll be doing
  • Inputting invoices accurately onto the accounts payable system, ensuring correct coding, approval, and timely supplier payments.
  • Dealing with supplier queries and reconciling daily and monthly bank statements.
  • Preparing payment runs in line with authorisations and approved mandates.
  • Producing balance sheet reconciliations, month‑end processes and posting journals.
  • Providing cover for the team during holidays.
Minimum qualifications
  • Previous experience in an accounting or finance role, ideally within financial services.
  • Good numerical skills and ability to reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Recognised finance qualification such as AAT (or equivalent) or at least 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • High accuracy, strong attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
  • Proficient in Excel and familiar with reporting tools such as Crystal Reports.
  • Good planning, organisational, and communication skills, with the ability to prioritise work and explain financial information clearly.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships across the organization.
Desired skills (even better)
  • Experience using online banking systems such as HSBCnet.
  • Experience with bank reconciliation software or applications.
