Account Assistant – Protect (12 Month Secondment/FTC)

Salary:
From £28,000 - £35,000 (DOE) + annual bonus & benefits

Office Attendance:
Hybrid; travel to Reigate office 2 days per week.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Input invoices accurately into the accounts payable system, ensuring correct coding, approval, and supplier payment terms.
  • Deal with supplier queries.
  • Ensure supplier payments are made accurately and timely in line with payment terms.
  • Prepare authorised payment runs and obtain required signatures.
  • Reconcile daily and monthly bank statements, addressing queries as required.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including Cashiers, Claims, and approvers.
  • Provide cover for the team when needed, including holidays.
  • Produce relevant balance sheet reconciliations, month‑end processes, and posting journals.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Previous experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably within financial services.
  • Good numerical skills and the ability to carry out financial reconciliations, identify errors, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Holding or working towards a recognised finance qualification such as AAT (or equivalent), or at least two years’ experience in a similar role.
  • High accuracy and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good computer skills, including experience using Excel, Crystal Reports, or similar reporting tools.
  • Good planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with people at all levels of the organisation.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience using online banking systems such as HSBCnet.
  • Experience using bank reconciliation software or applications.
