Responsibilities

As a Surgical Coordinator at Mercy Medical Center, you'll play a pivotal role in facilitating smooth and efficient surgical operations within our Orthopedic department. You'll be responsible for coordinating surgical schedules, managing patient appointments, and ensuring all necessary authorizations are obtained. This is a dynamic role that requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care.

  • Facilitate surgical scheduling and optimize providers' surgical schedules for maximum efficiency
  • Ability to accompany providers to various clinic locations to facilitate check-ins, check-outs, and surgical scheduling, as needed
  • Ensure timely completion of authorizations for surgeries, adhering meticulously to regulatory standards
  • Efficiently manage pre-operative paperwork and confirm appointments through personalized phone calls and MyChart messages
  • Serve as a crucial intermediary between physicians and patients, offering comprehensive guidance on the entire surgical journey
  • Offer seamless administrative support to guarantee the smooth functioning of the medical surgery center
  • Maintain meticulous medical records and promptly address incoming calls to uphold operational efficiency
  • All other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures
  • One-year Surgical Scheduling experience preferred
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Understanding of basic scheduling system management
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a service-oriented mindset
  • Proficiency in MS Office and EPIC
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Previous experience working in a medical office setting
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology
  • Patient (Office and Operating Room) Scheduling
  • Must have excellent telephone demeanor
