Senior RVI Equipment Technician

Senior RVI Equipment Technician – Altrad UK, Ireland & Nordics

The Asset Management Team at Altrad Babcock is seeking a Senior RVI Equipment Technician to support the management, maintenance and future development of Remote Operations (RVI) equipment within Asset Management. Altrad partners with leading energy sector companies, delivering projects that reduce costs and emissions while advancing nuclear power and other high‑impact initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage, maintain and incrementally develop Remote Operations (RVI) equipment for large‑scale energy projects.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to site and hub teams during planned and unplanned outages.
  • Operate and troubleshoot asset management software, write scripts/macro, and use advanced Excel for data analysis.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, peers, management and stakeholders to coordinate maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, QHSE standards and provide audit and reporting on technical documentation.
  • Supervise and coach junior technicians, ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Support occasional site deployments, extended outages and international travel as required.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Qualified to HNC or higher, or a minimum of 5 years experience as a technician or tradesperson in a technical or mechanical role.
  • Experience or qualification in Equipment Management or EC&I engineering; PAT testing qualification desirable.
  • Excellent IT skills – experience with asset management software, script/macro writing and advanced Excel.
  • Strong strategic and organisational abilities with problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and procedural awareness; able to prioritise workload and manage multiple work streams.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; able to compile, review and audit technical documents, procedures and reports.
  • Excellent health and safety record and a commitment to QHSE standards.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including occasional shift and weekend work; overtime payments available. Full UK driving licence beneficial.
  • Beneficial qualifications: RPS/HP training, Nuclear security clearance (CTC or SC), IOSH Managing Safely. Membership in a professional institution encouraged.
  • Leadership skills and capability to coach and develop junior technicians to a high standard of expertise.
  • Candidates will be evaluated based on capability and experience and may be offered a role at Technician or Senior Technician level.
