• Provide engineering design input to new systems and products and support the existing product range by assessing technical queries.
• Liaise with internal JFD departments such as sales, supply chain and production to ensure the best technical solution is provided.
• Create part numbers and bills of materials and source suitable components and materials when required.
• Develop engineering documentation such as specifications, proposals, assembly instructions, test procedures, certification and reports and review detailed manufacturing drawings and documentation.
• Ensure engineering solutions are delivered on time and on budget and adhere to engineering and company standards and processes.
• Act as the discipline technical approver of drawings and documentation generated within the JFD engineering team.
• Promote engagement to build a resilient, diverse and high‑performing team.
• Line‑manage a small team: manage performance, development, allocation/delegation of work, compliance with internal and external standards and regulations, and foster development through a competence framework, training plans and performance appraisals.

• Proven electrical and electronics design skills.
• Skilled in generating design calculations.
• Experience programming with Structured Text (ST) and other IEC 61131‑3 programming languages in CODESYS platform.
• Competent in engineering design software tools / CAD packages.
• Knowledge of design standards.
• Knowledge of IEC 61508 applied to programmable systems in critical applications.
• Previous product design experience is advantageous, particularly DC systems.
• Selection of cables, connectors, and penetrators.
• Design and commissioning of HV and LV electrical systems with associated calculations.
• Design of power distribution systems.
• Specification, selection, and management of traction battery systems up to 150 kWh capacity.
• Good knowledge of electrical systems design for EMC compliance.
• Demonstrated experience in an electrical engineer or product engineer role.
• Experience with Product Lifecycle Management system for generating and storing engineering packages.
• Electrical and Electronics engineering degree or equivalent industry experience.
• Familiar with marine/defence standards and Classification Society rules (LR, DNV, DEFSTAN, etc.).

The role is based in Inchinnan, Glasgow; some travel will be required as projects dictate.
