Occupational Health Advisor

Location: Renfrew

Job type:Full time/Hybrid

Hours:Between 8am and 6pm

Salary:£39,000 - £45,000 depending on experience

Provide professional, evidence-based Occupational Health services to support employee health, wellbeing, attendance, and fitness for work. The role involves delivering case management, medical assessments, health surveillance, fitness-for-role assessments, and appropriate advice to employees, managers, and clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive Occupational Health case management and provide evidence-based advice on fitness for work, attendance, and workplace health.
  • Produce clear, accurate, and professional OH reports while maintaining confidentiality and complying with NMC standards and data protection requirements.
  • Undertake occupational medicals and health surveillance in line with current legislation, best practice, and company protocols.
  • Assess medical and surveillance results, provide appropriate fitness recommendations, and escalation of concerns where clinically necessary.
  • Provide health assessments including spirometry, audiometry, general medicals, case management, and fitness‑for‑role assessments.
  • Advise clients and managers on relevant Occupational Health legislation, workplace adjustments, and best practice.
  • Maintain professional NMC registration, clinical competence, continuing professional development, and appropriate clinical governance.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (Part
    1) with a postgraduate qualification in Occupational Health at Degree/Diploma level.
  • Previous experience in Occupational Health case management and providing professional OH advice.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent organisation, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage workload effectively, work independently, recognise professional limitations, and seek appropriate clinical support.
  • Confident IT skills and a strong understanding of confidentiality, information governance, and data protection within Occupational Health.
