Overview
Altrad are currently on the lookout for a Welder to join the business to provide Welding and Technical support services within Asset Management Operations function, also to provide support to the wider business as and when required.
Responsibilities- Read and interpret drawings.
- Trade related activities for general welding and fabrication.
- Safe use of all existing machinery in the manufacturing bays.
- Recognition of and adherence to company health and safety rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of QA processes and procedures.
- Provide technical support to Asset Management Operational bays.
- Maintain workplace housekeeping in line with company expectations.
- Ability to operate flame cutting equipment safely.
- Provide support in the field of Welding Operations in support of Asset Management contractual activities.
- Be responsible for equipment and facilities as specified by the Operations Leader ensuring they are properly maintained, calibrated and fit-for-purpose.
- Assist senior staff as a member of project teams to meet time, cost and timescale targets, satisfying the client’s valid requirements.
- Adhere to company procedures and systems (including quality, safety, environment, administration, security) and contribute to the improvement of such procedures where possible.
- Ensure equipment, workspace and machinery are maintained to a high standard and fit for purpose or third party inspection.
- Stop any work in bay/lab environments if it is not in line with the standards expected.
- Operate manufacturing bay machinery:
Band Saw, Pedestal Drill and Guillotine. - Work to project timescales and deliver a high quality standard.
- Fill out Work Order Cards as necessary.
- Perform site work as requested.
- Apprenticeship with recognised qualification such as SVQ, ONC or City and Guilds in Welding and Fabrication or equivalent.
- Apprenticeship with an NC Diploma in Welding and Fabrication or equivalent.
- Time served as a Welder.
- Demonstrable experience in Sub Arc and Automated Welding Processes.
- Greater than five years’ experience in a variety of welding processes including TIG, MMA and Flux Core.
- Basic knowledge of Codes, Legislation, Company standards and quality procedures.
- Basic creative and innovative skills.
- Basic effective writing and communication.
- Good teamwork skills.
