Regulatory Compliance Specialist

The Regulatory Analyst will help to ensure that our organization complies with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. The ideal candidate will have the ability to coordinate project permitting matters, analyze complex data and interact with regulators. This position will contribute to the company’s compliance efforts and project-development strategies.
The position will be based in Reno, Nevada and reports to the Manager, Sustainability and Engineering. Travel may be required as needed.
Responsibilities- Conduct research on industry regulations, laws, and guidelines to ensure compliance across various operations.
- Stay updated on changes in regulatory frameworks and assess their impact on the organization.
- Assist in the development and implementation of internal policies, procedures, and guidelines as they relate to permitting or Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG).
- Prepare and maintain accurate information to support regulatory submissions and ESG reporting.
- Analyze regulatory data and prepare reports that summarize findings, trends, and key project-permitting risks.
- Use data-driven insights to help develop strategies for risk mitigation.
- Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies, responding to inquiries, submitting reports, and ensuring the company maintains a positive relationship with external regulatory bodies.
- Provide training and support to internal teams regarding regulatory requirements and compliance processes.
- Develop presentations for internal briefings, compliance training and other projects as assigned.
- Help staff understand regulatory changes and their implications for business operations.
- Assist the Legal & Permiting group with support for consultant engagement, budgeting, invoicing, and other tasks as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Political Science, environmental field, or a related field, required. Paralegal certification with applicable work experience could be considered.
- Demonstrated interest in regulatory affairs or a related field.
- Two (2) years’ experience in natural resources or related field is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, risk management principles and compliance tools is beneficial.
Excellent analytical, research and writing skills. - Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience with compliance management software is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
